A successful African-American novelist who has made his reputation with a series of steamy, romantic novels for women, Shareef Crawford yearns to expand his literary range and audience, but is unable to find the essential inspiration, until a book tour brings him home to Harlem, where he suddenly finds himself in the middle of a violent gang war.
